This significant milestone also marked the retirement of the University's Cisco telephone system, which ceased operation on 1 July 2024.
Benefits of using the MS Teams Phone service
Users and the University reap several benefits by migrating from the standard telephone system to the Microsoft Teams Phone service. These include enhanced collaboration and improved productivity working with the single interface of managing all communication through the Teams app.
For the University, the service offers cost savings with reduced infrastructure and lower call charges. Additionally, the service supports remote working, this flexibility allows staff to make and receive calls from anywhere with an internet connection. The University's security and compliance requirements for securing its data are supported by Microsoft's robust security infrastructure, which includes data encryption.
