Professor Rachel Thomson speaking to attendees in a room at the 2023 Teaching Awards

Spotlight on… Teaching Awards celebration event

Staff members from across the University are invited to attend ‘Spotlight on... Teaching Awards’ to celebrate inspiring colleagues who have developed their own innovative teaching practices.

Taking place on 23 September from 12.30-2.30pm, the event will recognise the winners of this year’s 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Teaching Awards. This includes recipients of the Teaching Innovation Awards and the Teaching Best Practice Awards. They will be presented with their awards by the University Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rachel Thomson.

Many of the awards have funded student internships, including work to support the DIGILabs project. The event will include presentations from our students and staff across a variety of Schools. Come along to hear their stories and feel inspired to push the boundaries of your own learning and teaching practice, as well as considering an application for the next Teaching Awards (individually or as a team).

The event will take place in the Council Chamber in the Hazlerigg Building. Book your place for this event by searching for ‘Spotlight on… Teaching Awards’ on my.HR.

For more information about the Teaching Awards, please contact Sarah Bamforth or Samantha Chester in the Enhanced Academic Practice team or visit the dedicated webpages.

The team will also be holding future ‘Spotlight on…’ events throughout the 2024/25 academic year themed around different topics. The events aim to provide opportunities for colleagues to showcase their teaching practice, spark debate and inspire creativity.
