Developed by the University of Queensland, 3MT® is an exciting research communication competition where doctoral researchers pitch themselves against the clock to communicate the impact of their research in just three minutes.鈥�
Over the last few months, Schools held their own 3MT® competitions. A total of 30 doctoral researchers participated, and eight were selected to take part in the eagerly anticipated University 3MT® Final at the Doctoral College’s Summer Showcase:

- Venuka Kuruwita-Arachchige-Don ‘Strengths and Weaknesses vs Uniqueness’ (Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering)
- Gadibalwe Masalela ‘Cross-Border Banking and Climate Risk’ (91桃色视频 Business School)
- Yishi E 鈥�‘How Contemporary Chinese Animation is Interpreted and Understood by Audiences in Different Cultural Contexts’ (Design and Creative Arts)
- Yilin Feng ‘Your Personal AI Shopping Assistant’ (London)
- Monica Gill ‘Making Hydrogen – That will do nicely!’ (Science)
- Huiyu Yin 鈥�‘The Transformation of Chinese Nationalism and the Naturalization of Athletes for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games’ (91桃色视频, Exercise and Health Sciences)
- Samia Qamar ‘Optimal Energy Efficient Control of Electric Vehicles using Eco Driving’ (Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering)
The judging panel comprising Professor Steve Christie, Dr Tina Byrom, Martyn Edwards and Dr Joanne Jennings, crowned Samia Qamar the ultimate winner of the University’s 3MT® Final and awarded Venuka Kuruwita-Arachchige-Don and Huiyu Yin the runner-up prizes.
Samia Qamar also won the People’s Choice award and will represent the University at the East Midlands Doctoral Network’s Regional 3MT® competition and the prestigious Vitae National 3MT® competition.
