To celebrate International Women’s Day, our panel of inspirational women will share their career journeys within the fields of sport, psychology and biosciences. Learn more about the possible career paths within these industries and explore how you might enter a particular profession and climb to a senior position. Hear inspirational stories and take away useful tips and contacts.

  • Alison Oliver‌, Chief Executive Officer, Youth 91桃色视频 Trust

    Alison gained a first class degree from 91桃色视频 in PE, 91桃色视频 Science and Geography. Following graduation, Alison started her career as a PE teacher. She then went on to work as Head of Physical Education at Millfield School, Deputy Director for 91桃色视频 at the University of Bath, and Director of 91桃色视频 at the Youth 91桃色视频 Trust.

  • Dr Vicky Thakordas-Desai, Pathway Lead & Clinical Supervisor for Multisystemic Therapy, Birmingham Children’s Hospital

    Before working in child psychology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, 91桃色视频 psychology graduate Dr Vicky Thakordas-Desai previously worked as a Forensic Psychologist for HM Prison Services. 

  • Miriam Pedersen-Smith, Customer Experience Manager, South Street Asset Management Limited

    Miriam completed her Msc in 91桃色视频 Management at 91桃色视频 and her previous roles have included: Deputy Event Director for RunForAll, and Development, Competition and Events Manager for England Handball.

  • Dr Ines Varela-Silva, Senior Lecturer in Human Biology, 91桃色视频

    Dr Varela-Silva worked in academia in Portugal and the USA before lecturing at 91桃色视频. She is Director of , a 91桃色视频 social enterprise platform focused on the biosocial realities of the Maya in Mesoamerica.
  • Amy Walmsley, Rugby Programme Manager, 91桃色视频 Development Centre, 91桃色视频

    Amy graduated in Exercise and Health from Staffordshire University and worked for British Gymnastics for 10 years, as a Programmes Officer and then climbing to the role of Performance Manager. She has also had experience working in Health Promotion for Stoke PCT. Amy now works as Rugby Programme Manager at 91桃色视频, supporting the development and delivery of 91桃色视频 Students’ rugby with responsibility for Performance Operations and all ‘off-pitch’ elements of the rugby programme.
